M.I.A. -- Lana Del Rey

M.I.A. brought it last night at the Shrine
Don't believe #LAskeez?
Check out some of the live footage from last night below.
M.I.A. did the usual old school antics like invite the crowd to dance with her on stage during "Boyz"  and played a lot of oldies but goodies. The word "Matangi" was brightly lit up on stage in huge letters. Something tells me the Matangi divine Hindu mother wouldn't appreciate being incorporated into M.I.A.'s set but that's what makes M.I.A that more awesome.

The Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall has done some serious scoring with shows. Last night the M.I.A performance drew in quite the crowd and tonight +Lana Del Rey will be taking the stage.
The show isn't until this evening but there have been die-hard fans lined up outside since 9am!

There's something about this woman that folks just can't get enough of. I mean Kanye West willingly paid her 2.8 million to sing at his wedding for a reason.

Line wrapped around the Shrine for Lana Del Rey! Just 12hrs early.

M.I.A.-Banks-Chet Faker

Good Day #skeezies!
Here in LA the weekends start on Thursdays.
There's 3 amazing shows going on tonight and unfortunately #LAskeez can only make it out to one.
MIA....Banks...Chet Faker...
After randomly throwing a coin up in the air #LAskeez will attend the M.I.A. show over at the +Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall. So let's start getting pumped!

Today is definitely one of those moments were you wish you can duplicated yourself and be at multiple places at once. Technology hasn't allowed for that yet but over at the El Rey Theatre, Banks will be performing along with +Jerome LOL opening up!

If those two shows weren't already more than enough for a Thursday evening, Chet Faker will be playing in Hollywood at the Roxy theatre.

Hopefully you #skeezies can make it out to one of these awesome shows. None will disappoint, unless you don't make it in.

First Aid Kit/ Dodgers/ Kings

It's Wednesday and just two more days until the weekend!
Don't you love Holiday Weekends?
I mean who doesn't, it makes the week after that much shorter.
Okay let's get into the business.

Interested in seeing a show tonight?
Of course you are.
Over at the El Rey Theatre, First Aid Kit will be performing.
They are a sister duo band from Sweden and they're worth checking out on this lovely Wednesday.

Last night the Dodgers beat the +Cincinnati Reds 3-6
If the win wasn't enough to keep the crowd happy, the Ryu Bobble head give-away certainly was a win-win. A few luckily folks even won a trip to Korea! What can #LAskeez say, Dodger blue is international.

Don't forget to tune in tonight at 5:00pm to watch the +Los Angeles Kings take on the +Chicago Blackhawks as they lead the series 3-1.

Dodgers Ryu/ Liars

Now that everyone is back at work reliving their Memorial Day weekend fun of BBQs, road trips and nights out; it's time to focus on the upcoming events.
Liiiike tonight's Dodgers Ryu bobble head giveaway! Yesterday he had a no-hitter up until the 6th. And let's not forget to mention the NO-HITTER Josh Beckett added to the history books Sunday against the Phillies.
History lesson number #35461234 The Dodgers have the most pitchers in the MLB to have thrown a "NO-hitter" game.

#LAskeez will be busy at the Chavez Ravine watching the Boys in Blue take on the +Cincinnati Reds.

A show worth mentioning:

The Liars will be playing tonight at The Fonda Theatre. It's their last show in the States before they take off overseas.

Lightning In A Bottle/ Las Vegas/ Valley of Fire

Today is the last day of Lightning in a Bottle! For any of my yoga loving-hippy #skeezies that are out there, I hope you enjoy your last day at the festival!

#LASkeez opted for a weekend in Sin City, Las Vegas, NV. Although there are a slew of hotels in Las Vegas that provide endless entertainment, dining, and shopping options, #LASkeez graced +MGM Grand Las Vegas Hotel & Casino with our presence. And let me tell you #skeezies, the MGM did not disappoint. This hotel has managed become a leader within the Las Vegas +Electronic Dance Music scene by acquiring some of the most coveted DJ residencies around. The hotel's pool Wet Republic, also made the entire hotel/casino feel like a big pool party. Las Vegas itself was as crowded as ever. Making it clear that everyone got the "3-day weekend, let's party-memo."

Wet Republic Pool @ MGM Grand

Although, the Las Vegas strip offers a ton of man-made fun. Just about a 35-40 minute drive from the strip, Nevada offers one of the most eerily beautiful natural wonders with its +Valley of Fire State Park#LASkeez felt the need to catch a break from the grown-up amusement park that is Las Vegas, and took the drive to the State Park and absolutely loved it!

#LAskeez in action mode

#skeezies---trust me on this one, the drive is totally worth it.

Vegas=Diplo/Steve Aoki/ Hardwell/ Ryan Lewis

There's plenty to do in Los Angeles when there's a 3-day weekend but when it's Memorial Day weekend the party is in Vegas.
#LAskeez will be taking an impromptu trip to Viva Las Vegas!

There's a lot going on tonight. I'll throw a few events out there and you #skeezies can decided for yourself which is the best one. Keep in mind everything is going to be crowded.

Diplo @ the Encore

Hardwell @ Hakkasan

Steve Aoki @XS/Wet Republic

Ryan Lewis from Macklemore will also be spinning at the "Surrender".

Keep it fun and safe #skeezies! It never hurts to ask questions.

FYF Fest

Two days of great music in the City of Los Angeles= FYF FEST. When is it?
Aug 24-25.
When do the tickets go on sale?
TODAY AT NOON!!!
Last year the festival was held at the L.A. State Historic Park which almost gave #LAskeez and everyone else that attended lungs full of dirt/dust. This year the festival will be held at the LA Sports Arena & Exposition Park which means no dust and hopefully more restrooms!
Don't miss out #skeezies this is going to be a good one, I mean look at the line-up!

#LAskeez is a little too excited for this so let me show you a few bands that will get you just as excited

INTERPOL!

Chet Faker
The Strokes

Blood Brothers

Blood Orange

Now that you're excited as #LAskeez--Don't miss out! This will sell out quick!

XXYYXX/ Jessy Lanza/ Little Dragon/ Lightning In A Bottle

Happy Hump Day! Memorial Day Weekend is almost here! Road trips and BBQs will definitely be in full swing! Just make sure to invite #LAskeez for some good BBQ ;)
There's still time for #skeezies to pick up some tickets for tomorrow's shows liiiike...
+XXYYXX with the Opening Act of Jessy Lanza at the Echoplex! As you #skeezies already know #LAskeez is a big fan of Jessy Lanza so tomorrow's show will be an electronic match made in heaven or close enough to it.

XXYYXX

In case you forgot about our last Jessy Lanza's posts here's a quick little refresher of her sound

On a budget and can't afford any tickets? No worries +Little Dragon will be performing on the +Jimmy Kimmel Live show! It's a free event as long as you show up early and print out an rsvp which you can acquire from iota.com. +Little Dragon's new album is AMAZING so if any #skeezies can make it out to the Jimmy Kimmel show #LAskeez  HIGHLY recommends it. Let's not forget #LAskeez checked out Little Dragon during Coachella Weekend 1 and minus the horrible sound system (hopefully someone got fired) it was a good show. Jimmy Kimmel is a professional so the sound system should be up to par.

Kicking off tomorrow and for the whole entire Memorial Day weekend is +Lightning In A Bottle!
5 days of nonstop music in Bradley, California.
Check out the line-up:

Among our favorites

Of course-- +Little Dragon
here's a different song

Simian Mobile Disco

There's more than plenty to do this weekend. Get out there, live life, and dance to some good music!

Week Hiatus/Clippers/ LB Pride/ RuPaul

Whoa #LAskeez went on a week long hiatus and let's just say sooooo much as happen.
For one the Clippers were eliminated by the Thunder.
It was a good run for the Clippers but they can never forget this is a Lakers town.
#LAskeez sincerely hopes there wasn't any hurt #skeezies that fell off the band wagon when it came to a complete stop ;P
Jack@ STAPLES Center Game 6 to watch the Clippers lose?
As long as the +Miami HEAT doesn't 3 peat,  #LAskeez will be happy.

When Miami Fans left the Game thinking it was over & tried to go back in.

Congratulations to the +USC Trojan Class of 2014!
#LAskeez  was in attendance during the Dornslife Graduation Ceremony and was lucky to be sitting in the air conditioned +Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall as the rest of the school was somewhere sitting outside in the scorching heat. Fight On Trojans!

Belanova, Cazwell, Dev, &  Kelly Rowland where all in Long Beach this past weekend celebrating Long Beach Pride.

Belanova

  Cazwell

Dev

Kelly Rowland

Last night on +RuPaul's Drag Race a new queen was crowned!
Jinx Monsoon passed the crown to... Bianca Del Rio! #LAskeez was rooting for Adore Delano but is happy to see Bianca win. She is definitely one of the fastest wittiest people to ever grace television. #LAskeez expects big things to come from Bianca. Condragulations to Bianca Del Rio!!!

Season VI Winner!!

We still love you Adore!

Tuesday LA Sports Talk Edition

Game 5 +Los Angeles Clippers vs +Oklahoma City Thunder is tonight at 6:30!
Donald Sterling once again shocked the world with a very interesting exclusive interview with +Anderson Copper. In case the #skeezies  haven't seen it, here it is. The second video has all the smack talk on Magic Johnson.

Sooo the Kings lost last night to the Ducks. Laaaame. They better get it together for tomorrow's game at 6:30pm.

+Dodger Fans will be flocking to the Chavez Ravine for the Puig bobble head giveaway. #LAskeez will be in attendance while simultaneously keeping an eye on the Clipper score.

Happy Mothers Day/ Clipper Win

Before the day is out #LAskeez would like to wish all the mothers a Happy Mother's Day!
Children are not easy to deal with, which is why mothers need to have their own dedicated day of appreciation.
#LAskeez took a break from busy city living and celebrated Mother's Day by having a nice dinner at an Echo Park staple: Taix French Restaurant. #Skeezies take note of the following tip: if you are ever in search of a good restaurant, this place will not disappoint. Taix is classy establishment that offers a no frills, traditional French culinary experience. Because let's face it, even the hippest of hipsters can get tired of the slew of the seemingly never endless list of "unique" gastropubs.
It's hard to pick a favorite dish to recommend. But you can't go wrong with the charcuterie for an appetizer and the pomme frites as your entree. I also can't forget to mention their amazing split pea soup. #Skeezies go ahead and splurge on this one and add a healthy portion of parmesan cheese.

Here's a good Mother's Day song by +Chromeo

And now for some--- LA Sports Talk:

+Los Angeles Clippers  beat the +Oklahoma City Thunder 99-101. Wow. Let's just say that this was a hard fought game. It was quite the nail biter in the 4th quarter. But at the end of the day the L.A. Clippers showed the Thunder who's boss. The worst part of this game was the major FAIL on +Time Warner Cable for blacking out during the last 30 seconds of this exciting playoff game. Needless to say, there were a lot of pissed off Angelenos out there. But I digress. The Clippers travel to Oklahoma for game 5.

Who is William Onyeabor?

Who is William Onyeabor? Diehard music fans everywhere rejoice on this old school funk/synth/rhythmic gem of a find. William Onyeabor's music was so clearly ahead of its time and noteworthy that the music equivalent of The Avengers team felt compelled to share his music Thursday night at +Greek Theatre. So who exactly was on this musical A-Team? Well-let's drop some names: former Talking Heads member David Byrne, Alexis Taylor from Hot Chip, Kele Okereke from Bloc Party, and Pat Mahoney from LCD Soundsystem. Other artists that partook were: Money Mark, Lijadu Sisters, and opening set by Wooden Wisdom ahem...Elijah Wood?! Yes and partner in crime Zach Cowie.

Check out this amazing tune by the man himself William Onyeabor. Although recorded a few decades ago, this is music that could easily hold its own (and then some) next to any contemporary electronic music:
William Onyeabor - Good Name

William Onyeabor in his punk rock gettup. Get with it #skeezies! I might just pick up a white cowboy hat after Thursday's show.

LA SPORTS TALK:
+Los Angeles Clippers lost to the +Oklahoma City Thunder last night 118-112.

+Los Angeles Kings play the +Anaheim Ducks tonight at 6:30.

James Franco--Convincingly Creepy High School Girls Soccer Coach--Palo Alto

James Franco plays a convincingly creepy high school girls soccer coach in the new movie Palo Alto.
Tuesday evening #LAskeez was invited to an exclusive premier over at the +ArcLight Cinemas to see the movie Palo Alto,  written and directed by Gia Coppola, based on the short stories of James Franco.

Following immediately after the movies was a Q&A with the director Gia Coppola, (if the name sounds familiar that's because it is. Francis Ford Coppola is her grandpops  and Sofia Coppola is her Aunt)  and even Emma Roberts sat in on some Q&A action! Must be nice, it seemed like every Hollywood celebrity's kid/relative had a role in this movie that was funded by James Franco. Van Kilmer's son, Jack Kilmer made his debut in the movie as well. Anyway the movie perfectly captures the many experiences of high school without focusing on the perfect cheerleader or loner teenager. Palo Alto oddly reminded #LAskeez of the mid-90s movie Kids but if you can look past that, it's entertaining enough.

For all you +American Horror Story fans, Emma Roberts shared with the audience that the filming will be taking place in July and her role is yet to be determined.

Check out the trailer for Palo Alto:

Q&A from left to right:Moderator, Gia Coppola, Girl in movie, Emma Roberts

LA sports talk:

+Los Angeles Clippers lost last night to the +Oklahoma City Thunder  101-112. It's all good the Clippers did their job and took one win away from this road trip and will play Game 3 here in LA.

+Los Angeles Kings play Game 3 today against the +Anaheim Ducks at 7:00pm.

+Los Angeles Dodgers are on a loosing steak and lost to the +Washington Nationals yesterday 2-3. Hopefully the boys in blue can pull it together today against the +San Francisco Giants at 7:00pm.

Making headlines in the LA times and all over the internet---Donald Sterling's wife Shelly Sterling,  has no intentions on selling +Los Angeles Clippers. Shelly, is a co-owner of the team and in her little head thinks it's okay to hold on to them. She has also been accused in the past of making racists comments about minorities. The NBA better make right of this situation ASAP.

Tuesday/ LA Sports Talk--Clippers/Kings

Hope the #skeezies aren't too hung over today.
If you are that probably means you consumed too much tequila.
Keep the Mexican theme going and go for some tacos! It's Taco Tuesday!
"Taco taco taco burrito."

Let's get down to what's on every Angelinos mind.

What a game! +Los Angeles Clippers beat the +Oklahoma City Thunder in a crushing Game 1 performance 122-105+Chris Paul was sizzling hott as he made eight 3-pointers! Paul was playing as if he was the one earning the MVP title Kevin Durant just earned today. #LAskeez predicted the Clippers in 6 but if last night was any indication of how the following games will play out, we might witness a SWEEEEP.

Speaking of "sweeps" the +Los Angeles Kings beat the +Anaheim Ducks 3-1!  There's nothing mighty about them ducks and the Kings are that much closer to another Stanley Cup.

The +Los Angeles Dodgers should of completed the trifecta---
But they lost yet again to the +Washington Nationals 0-4.

As far as playoffs are concerned you couldn't "BEAT LA" last night.
"LA BEAT YOU"
