New Years Eve Line Ups

After a brief holiday hiatus, #LAskeez is back and just in time to provide you with all of the information that you will need to make this upcoming NYE in Los Angeles, a memorable experience.

First and foremost, #skeezies-RELAX! NYE is about spending it in whichever way makes you happiest. If sweatpants and pizza is your idea of a good time, go for it. NYE, like many other big party nights e.g. Halloween, St. Patrick's day, etc., at times can be more stressful than fun as people try this best to successfully partake in a cliché evening that is more fitting of a Hollywood 'bromance' film rather than what happens in everyday life. But enough ranting, here are my tope 5 favorite events for NYE 2015 (in no particular order):

Number 5: Black + Gold Ball NYE featuring DJ Jason Bentley, Valida, and DJ Brazilia. This event will be held at the Viceroy Santa Monica. You can join the party by purchasing $180 gen. admission tickets. More info on this event can be found here:

Number 4: Let's Party NYE featuring Blood Orange, Classixx + more. This event is presented by AOK, IAMSOUND, and KCRW. It will be held at the Legendary Park Plaza Hotel. You can join in on the fun by purchasing the $150 tickets.

Number 3: New Year's Eve LA at Grand Park will be featuring Mr. Little Jeans, Garth Trinidad, Chris Douridas + More. Best of all this event is $FREE and there will be several food vendors. This event is alcohol free and fun for the entire family. Check it out here. Grand Park NYE Event

Number 2: Total Eclipse NYE at the Ace Hotel in DTLA featuring Twin Shadow with live performances by Pegasus Warning and Black Gatsby.

Number 1: Rhondapolis NYE at the Standard Hotel in DTLA will be featuring Moon Boots, J. Rock, Peanut Butter Wolf, and Jimmy Edgar. This is sure to be a wild evening as all 13 floors of the hotel will be dedicated to NYE festivities.

Bonus Round for the OC folks (I swear, sometimes I spoil you) : Banks at the Observatory in Santa Ana.

  BUT...!

If you have to go anywhere in the OC #LAskeez recommends keeping it classy with the Black and Gold Party at the Wayfarer. This is the ultimate NYE experience. For $30 you get a complimentary hors d'oeuvre buffet, champagne for the balloon drop count down and great Dj entertainment by our favorite DJ Niko Six, plus more AND Charity Strike!

Alright #skeezies that's what I have for you. The events above are by no means the only events that are happening in the great city of Los Angles on NYE. There are plenty more to choose from, these are just some of the ones that stuck out to #LAskeez. So get out there, have fun and be safe. Please remember to have a plan, drinking and driving is not cute.

Sublime with Rome // Moby // Ryan Adams

Post raining days make for beautiful clear and sunny days in LA. #LAskeez recommends not only some shows tonight but try going on a hike to watch the sunset! #skeezies it's not that often that you have no smog so take advantage of it!

Sometimes in the music world an artist suddenly passes before they reached their full potential. It happened to Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, & Amy Winehouse to name a few. The same can be said about the Bradley Nowell, the lead singer of Sublime. Some surviving band members tend to continue touring in honor of their bandmate/friend. With tonight's show the band "Sublime with Rome" is just that. The remaining band members will be performing tonight at the Morongo Casino out in Palm Springs, then they are headed to the House of Blues in Anaheim. Tickets are in the $50-80 range (these guys need to make a living somehow). The show starts at at 9pm and if you ever wanted to see Sublime live this is the closest you will ever get too it.

Tonight is the final night Moby performs at the Masonic Lodge at the Hollywood Forever. It's been a successful first two shows and tonight should not be any different. The Masonic Lodge is a very intimate venue were you can get as close as you would like as long as you are willing to get there early. The show starts at 9pm and tickets for the final show are starting at $80.

Ryan Adams is performing at the Wiltern again. This is his second consecutive and last show at the venue.  Like yesterday the show is at 9pm and there are only resale tickets available. It's are up $10 from yesterdays show so expect to pay $30+ to attend.

Weezer // Moby // Ryan Adams

Now that the rain has cleared all the smog from LA, #skeezies can now see the mountains and a crisp clear LA skyline. Happy Holidays from Mother Earth! Alright back to the shows and what's happening today. #LAskeez has picked out a couple shows and we'll cut right to it.

Since it's pleasant today, why not take a drive out to Santa Ana to the Observatory to see Weezer perform. From Green to Blue to Red Albums, these guys are touring off of their 9th studio album called "Everything will be Alright in the End". The show starts at 8pm and if you miss them tonight they will be back at the Observatory come March for a two-day festival that's going on over there.
Included to the left over here was the song/music video that broke them into the KROQ scene forever.

As mentioned yesterday---Moby will be performing tonight for his second out of three shows at the Masonic Lodge at the Hollywood Forever cemetery. If you're still debating on whether or not to go, you should consider today versus tomorrow as ticket prices will be off the chats to attend tomorrows gig.

Oh and lastly for tonight's shows---Ryan Adams will be at the Wiltern tonight and tomorrow. Stubhub has some affordable tickets  (under face value) of $25! So get on it if you're into this guy. Doors are at 7pm.  #LAskeez always enjoys heading over to Beer belly for some duck fries and chicken wings before or after the show. It's just the right thing to do when you head over to the Wiltern.

Moby // Smashing Pumpkins // Johnny Marr

Looks like #LAskeez needs to invest in a few rain barrels to preserve some of this rain water. During last weeks storm there were approximately 10 trillion gallons that poured down over the state of California! Hopefully that puts a good dent in our drought status. As all the #skeezies attempt to stay dry today, you want to know which venue to seek refuge in and that's exactly what  #LAskeez is going to tell you about.

The first recommended venue for the #skeezies to seek refuge is---The Masonic Lodge at the Hollywood Forever cemetery. Why here? Well, the techno/electronic artist known as Moby will be performing there tonight. As he is calling it "Moby Ambient live (Ambient- Film Music -Electronics)" Knowing Moby this is probably a vegan only entry. This is the first of three consecutive SOLD OUT shows at the Masonic Lodge and if you're looking to purchase some resale tickets tonight will definitely be the cheapest day to go with tickets reselling at $50 a ticket. Show starts at 9.

Tonight's show that everyone is talking about is...the legendary Smashing Pumpkins!  After playing over the weekend at KROQs almost acoustic Christmas they probably felt like they needed to playa show just for their fans. Tonight's impromptu show will be   happening at the Fonda Theatre. Tickets started at $69.70 (excludes fees). 5 lucky folks won tickets to the show through KRCW a couple hours ago so the anticipation is clearly running high.  This is a must see show.

Johnny Marr, yes that guy from the Smiths was scheduled to play tonight at the Glass House in Pomona and then two shows later this week at the El Rey Theatre but unfortunately he had to cancel due to "serious close family illness". #LAskeez wishes his family a speedy recovery and hopefully the #skeezies can see Johnny Marr back on the road again soon.

The Barr Brothers // Rx Bandits // Jhene Aiko

#LAskeez was awoken this early morning from a deep slumber by a rude iPhone flash flood alert. In other words it meant to take a kayak or boat to work because the freeways were little river streams. Now that LA is drying up it's time to inform the #skeezies where to go tonight. It's Friday and we're almost certain that the predicted evening showers will not keep you home.

The Barr Brothers consist of 4 folks that play good ole folk music. These guys and gal found each other in Canada Aye, specifically in Quebec "oui, oui". Tonight they will be in LA playing over here in Silverlake at the Satellite.  The price of admission is $14. The show begins at 9:00 and the entire event ends at 2am.  Perfect timing to allow the rain to pass. Opening up for these guys are Leif Vollebekk. Should be a good show, don't miss out!

The boys from the OC known as the Rx Bandits are still alive and well. Tonight they will be playing at the Glass House for $22 a ticket. Since you probably don't have work tomorrow taking the drive out to Pomona shouldn't be too bad. Doors are at 7pm. Just be ready to hear their sixth album along with a few classics. With experience comes better albums and this new album is good stuff.

Yesterday we mentioned that Jhene Aiko was going to be playing tonight at Club Nokia. Since we featured a music video of hers already let's focus on one of the opening acts for tonight which is the Internet. They're local LA folks that need to blow up already!

Stay Dry!

Ryan Adams // Allah-Las // Jhene Aiko

Good day, Good day #LAskeez will say to the fellow #skeezies. We don't need to tell you what day it is but Thursday is the precursor to the weekend. Which means you need to start it off right and we have just the shows to help you do that.

Ryan Adams. The man from Jacksonville, North Carolina with a reputation of being rude and difficult to work with will be stopping by the Fox Theater in Pomona. Opening up for him will be the talented Jenny Lewis. If you're not 100% about Ryan Adams, checking the show out to see Jenny open up wouldn't be such a bad idea. Tickets are ranging from $40-50. Doors are at 7pm show at 8pm. We would of included one of Ryan Adam's videos off to the side but we opted for Jenny instead.

The Allah-Las have sure been keeping busy with continuously performing. They're from LA so how could they not? What makes them even cooler in our book is that they all used to work at Amoeba Records. Anyway for $20 you can watch them rock out at the El Rey Theatre. There's two opening bands by the names of Tashaki Miyaki and Dream Boys. Three bands for $20 and it's all ages show. Its starts at 9pm.

From Pomona to see Ryan Adams/Jenny Lewis to LA where you can catch the Allah-Las, now we're directing you back out to the OC over to the Observatory in Santa Ana. Why? Because the talented Jhene Aiko will be performing. If watching her wasn't an incentive to drive out there, let's add that the Internet will be opening up. That's a good line up!  Don't be too upset if you can't make the drive up there today, they're be playing a show here in LA tomorrow at Club Nokia.

Tune-Yards // The Ataris // FMLYBND

Good morning #skeezies since our last post the city began to burn. Well one building did and in case you were worried #LAskeez is safe. In LA nothing is a coincidence which is why this incident is being investigated as a criminal arson case. Results soon to come.

What's going on? Where the shows? What's good? #LAskeez has you covered. For starters, Tune Yards will be performing tonight at the Wiltern. $27.50 is the price of admission and there are still tickets available. Come to think of it there's always tickets available, it just depends on how deep your pockets are willing stretch. Anyway the woman behind Tune Yards is a New England native and her band mate is from Oakland where she now lives as well. Who doesn't want to ghost ride the whip? Doors are at 7pm,  show starts at 8pm.

The Ataris. Remember them? You might remember them as the emo band from way back when. Turns out they're still around and playing shows. Tonight they will stopping by the El Rey. This show is about $17 and if you want to reminisce on your high school days and heart breaks this is your show. There's two opening bands and this show starts at 8pm.

Top #LAskeez recommendation (with honors) of the day goes to...

The Echo, the venue always knows who to let on their stage. Tonight a band from Isla Vista (Santa Barbara) known as FMLYBND will be taking over the Echo. They consider themselves "electronic grunge" which seems about right. The show is only $12 and it includes an opening band. So essentially that's $6 per band. Not a bad deal. Show is at 8:30pm.

Tokimonsta // Sam Smith // Jingle Ball

Alright #skeezies this may be a later posting but there's still time to potentially go catch a show.
#LAskeez has two events to tell you all about:

First up Tokimonsta. We've mentioned her before, she's the Korean American woman who graduated from UC Irvine and tonight she's going to perform at the Observatory in Santa Ana. Luckily for the #skeezies, there's still last minute tickets available on ticketweb.com  for $25.  This is a later show because hey it's Friday and well, why not? It's Friday night! Get out there and have some fun. Doors are at 10:30pm and there's two opening acts so make sure you get your caffeine fix before you head over.

The Lakers are away tonight playing in Boston, which means that the Staples Center is available for something different---Tonight KISS FM is taking over the Staples Center with their annual Jingle Ball event. Which includes an #LAskeez favorite---Sam Smith. Yes, Sam Smith will be at Jingle Ball for a 30 min set. It has been quite a treat to see this young man's career take off in the past year. Attendees will surely be serenaded with smooth vocals. Tickets range from $40-500! The show starts at 8pm so don't be late if you plan to also watch Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, and all of the other ultra popular acts.

Young Jeezy // Chris Isaak

One of the biggest storms LA has seen in a while is going on right this moment. The whole state of California is engulfed by this cloud of rain and we need it more than ever. Here in LA, everyone is excited to finally dust off and put on their fashionable (because everyone in LA thinks they're fashionable) rain coats, boots, and umbrellas. The rainfall may keep people away from going out and about but not #LAskeez so let us tell you about the shows you #skeezies can check out tonight.

All the way from the South, Young Jeezy himself will be stopping by Santa Ana to perform over at the Observatory. He's been grammy nominated not once not twice but FOUR times and he's a former member of Boyz n Da Hood. If those aren't reasons to go see this guy then idk what is. That's not to mention his hit songs. Doors are at 8pm, and tickets are still available via stubhub for $33+.

What we're about to tell you about next is completely different from Young Jeezy and an act your older sister or mom can tell you about. That's Chris Isaak. He may have not aged gracefully but that's probably due to all those 'wicked games' he would sing about.  He's going to be over in San Juan Capistrano at The Coach House. This show is a little pricy  $125+ so we're assuming that he's probably going to personally look into your eyes and sing directly at you. Show is at 8pm.
