The weekend is almost upon us and there's nothing but some great FREE shows for you #skeezies today!

DJ Marques Wyatt & DJ Doc Martin

Let's start over at the Hammer Museum.
It's a "Deep" event with DJ Marques Wyatt, DJ Doc Martin and KCRW's very own DJ Raul Campos.
The show starts at 6:30pm and the only requirement is a good attitude.

Santa Monica Pier

Over at the Santa Monica Pier, Omar Souleyman will be performing with De Lux! Show starts at 7:00pm. De Lux really knows how to please the summer crowds with Free sets. Santa Monica Pier sunset + De Lux = a must. Better make time for this.

#LAskeez has gotten used to watching the Dodgers winning.
Not to mention that Matt Kemp is no longer in his perpetual slump and his been the "IT" guy these last two games. Last night his hit to left field won the game for the Dodgers 2-3. Hopefully that means he doesn't get traded before the trade deadline.
They play again against the Atlanta Braves tonight at 7:10pm.

Dodgers / Broken Water Mains

Good news #skeezies Vin Scully has decided to renew his Dodgers contact for one more year--making that his 66th year with the organization! #LAskeez can not imagine a game without Vin Scully broadcasting and fortunately the 2015 season is secure.

::Serious stuff::
California as a whole is going through a very severe water drought.
Yesterday's broken water main near UCLA was very rough to watch. Each passing minute wasted about 78,000 gallons of water! Luckily the students on campus where able to bust out their boogie boards and take advantage of the water crisis. LAFD even brought seadoos to the scene, just in case!

UCLA students "playing" in the water

DWP is still working around the clock to fix the Pre-World War II pipe. You read that correctly, the pipe was nearly 100 years old!
Maybe some tax dollars can finally be invested into replacing some vital water pipes. Until then let us hold our breath and hope it doesn't happen again, at least during this drought.

Anyway don't forget to watch the Dodgers play the Atlanta Braves
tonight at 7:10pm. Last night's 4-8 victory was awesome. Go Doyers!

Lakers New Coach/ Dodger baseball

Finally some Lakers new's to talk about!
#Skeezies & Lakers fans rejoice!
Byron Scott is OFFICIALLY the Lakers new head coach for the next 4 years, 17 million cash money contract.

No more chumps like Mike Brown or Mike D'Antoni. Byron Scott is a coach the city can stand behind. #LAskeez has an inkling Kobe is finally satisfied with this move.

Basketball can't come soon enough but in the mean time the Dodgers are a very good topic. The Boys in Blue are back from their road trip and will be playing the Atlanta Braves tonight at 7:10pm. Tonight is a special Vin Scully microphone giveaway in celebration of his 65th year with the Dodger organization!

This one will definitely be a collectors item and it's an honor every time the fans get to hear Vin say those magic words before each game "It's time for Dodger Baseball". Thank you Vin Scully for making each game memorable.

Comic Con / Echo and the Bunnymen

#LAskeez had the opportunity to take the Amtrak surf liner train up to Comic Con, this past weekend. Yes, the Comic Con in San Diego. The train ride is always a beautiful coast line ride up that it's hard not wanting to ride it. Even though a one-way ticket costs about the same as a full tank of gas and it takes just about the same amount of time if not longer to get up there in a car, its fun! Hmmm...wait a minute, what's up with that?
Just a reminder that the US is nowhere near the train systems as Europe or Japan.

Adventure time making it's way into the Comic Con

There were a ton of surprises over the weekend. The Batman versus Superman sneak trailer was revealed not once but TWICE!
The cast of Game of Thrones enjoyed their last panel together and the American Horror Story cast answered a few questions.
Tons of cosplays to look at and of course collectible items that comic con #skeezies were lining up for. Showing up 2 hrs ahead of anything you wanted to see was considered late in comparison to the over night campers. Nevertheless an amazing experience.

Another weekend came and went now you need something to do today.

Echo and the Bunnymen are slowly making their way over to LA and tonight they will playing a few miles away over at the Observatory. The word is out that there's going to be a killing moon tonight so head over to enjoy some classics.

Let's take a brief moment to take in how Dodgers swept the +San Francisco Giants

It was absolutely spectacular.

The Neighbourhood /// Wolfmother

There's two great shows going on today!
First up The Neighbourhood.

The Neighbourhood
They will be playing at the Greek Theatre which is another great summer venue. It's not sweater weather but #LAskeez recommends that the #skeezies take a light blanket since it seems to always get a little chilly.

Up next is Wolfmother.

Wolfmother

They're not playing at the Greek or the Bowl but they will be at House of Blues Sunset Strip. Be ready to see these Australians rock out. For 3 guys, they have quite a large sound.

The Dodgers couldn't pull out the win last night and they lost 1-6 to the Pittsburgh Pirates womp womp. They will be in San Francisco tonight (7:15pm) to take on the Giants. The one team that the Dodgers always have to beat are the Giants so let's go Blue!

Sea Wolf--The Sayers Club

It's midweek and #LAskeez like all the #skeezies are itching for the weekend.
If you missed Ok Go yesterday at the Troubadour, they will be bringing their antics over to the Echo tonight for a whooping $20 admission fee.

The place to be tonight is The Sayers Club for Sea Wolf.
The price of admission is $3 with rsvp. $12 Without. If you're not 21+ don't bother showing up. That always eliminates half of all the concert selfies. Good or bad thing, you decide. Regardless this should be an awesome show.

Our beloved Dodgers couldn't beat the Pittsburgh Pirates last night and lost 7-12. Womp womp. It's okay they have the opportunity to win the series today as they play them yet again at 4:05pm.

Ok Go!--Troubadour

It's one of those Tuesday were the shows repeat themselves. BOoooring.
Lady Gaga is performing yet again for her little monsters at the Staples Center.
Alice Cooper and Motley Crue are jumping venues from the Bowl to the Verizon Theatre.
Everyone needs to make that cash money some how and WERK.
But to write about them twice in a row is repetitive so let's talk about OK GO. Yeah that band that will forever be known for their treadmill choreography.

OK GO
They will be playing at the Troubadour for $20 a ticket.
It may be worth the price of admission if they decided to set up the treadmills. But really if they spend as much time on their concert set as they do with their music videos, the #skeezies should be in for a treat.

#LAskeez will be tuning into the Dodger game as they play the Pittsburgh Pirates again. They had an impressive win against them yesterday 5-2 and hopefully today's game is similar.

Lady Gaga --Alice Cooper & Motley Crue

So Lady Gaga will be at the Staples Center tonight but who cares?

No really who cares?
Apparently there's still "Little Monsters" around supporting her fizzling career. She does put on an amazing visually stimulating show, so if she sticks to the classics it may something worth watching. Ticket sales didn't do too well so #skeezies can go on Stubhub to snag a ticket for $42 or maybe less as the concert approaches.

Alice Cooper & Motley Crue will be performing at the Hollywood Bowl which should be lovely. The weather here in LA has been close to perfect so why wouldn't anyone not want to jam out on a nice summer evening?!

Rock out!

Don't forget the Dodgers will be playing the Pittsburgh Pirates tonight at 4:05pm.

Friday Flights and Summer Nights

Alas the weekend is here!
Now what to do?
Never fear #skeezies, #LAskeez has just the thing.
School Night and the Ace Hotel Present Summer School.
Don't worry there aren't any lectures here.
It's a 3 day crash course event consisting of DJs, poolside, and rooftops. Specifically on Saturday De Lux will perform live in the Amigo Room. Hope the #skeezies have their summer bods ready. KCRW DJ Chris Douridas will be spinning some summer jams as well. Go out tonight or any time between now and Sunday Funday.

Never got your summer bod ready? It's alright, it's Friday Flights at the Getty! No Age will be there with 3 experimental performances.

No Age
Sounds "artsy". It's a FREE event from 6-9pm. Music, art, visuals, and "local beer and bites" now if that's not worthy of checking out who knows what is?!

The withdraws will stop today. Dodger baseball will resumes at 5:15. The Dodgers will play in St. Louis against the Cardinals.
This should hopefully be an easy win but tune in just to double check.

DineLA --Bad Religion/ X / Legend

All #skeezies have to eat so why not make it interesting by checking out new places.
DineLA this summer is from July 14-27th. It's when participating restaurants set up a prix-fixe menu with their best dishes to impress and get the patrons back. Make sure to take advantage of the awesome promotion during lunch or dinner. Lunches can range from $15-25 and dinners from $25-45.

After a little DineLA action, there's a few shows #skeezies can go check out. Bad Religion and X will be playing a show together at the Pacific Amphitheatre in Costa Mesa. It's a drive but come on it's Bad Religion.

If you don't rock out like #LAskeez does, there's always the John Legend show over at the San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino that the #skeezies can catch. The venue is a tad far but his voice may definitely be worth the drive for many.

An Evening at Hollywood Bowl or Reggae Night at the Echo

Pleasant days turn into pleasant evenings.
Today is is no exception of this.
#LAskeez would most certainly have to recommend heading over to the Hollywood Bowl to see Boz Scaggs play the guitar tonight.

Typical evening at the Bowl

If you just want to dance to some reggae then head over to the Echoplex. Every Wednesday is the Dub Club with DJ Tom Chasteen.

Life is feeling a little empty without some Dodger Baseball but don't worry #skeezies the withdraws will stop when baseball resumes back on Friday. The Dodgers performed very well yesterday during the All-Star game. Kershaw and Greinke both pitched awesome innings. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough for the National League to win. Had one of our boys in blue pitched more than one inning, the outcome would of definitely been different. Oh well there's always next year.

Jessica Hernandez & The Deltas

According to #LAskeez, there's not a whole lot of shows going on tonight but tomorrow evening at The Echo,  Jessica Hernandez and The Deltas will be performing.

They're from Detroit and they certainly have their own thing going on. Give them a listen and who knows, it might be the best ten bucks you have ever spent for a show.

The Dodgers easily swept the San Diego Padres yesterday and now take a break for the All-Star game. Yasiel Puig will be representing the boys in blue during the Home Run Derby tonight at 5pm.

De Lux / Warpaint / Basement Jaxx

Last nights Free shows might have you #skeezies wanting more and you're in luck. If for whatever reason you missed De Lux over at the Hammer Museum it's okay, they will playing another Free show over in Long Beach at The Pike at Rainbow Harbor. It's moment's like this that you sometimes just can't pass up.

The lovely ladies of Warpaint will be performing tonight with Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds over at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall. Tickets range from $20-80.

#LAskeez would be more inclined to pay to see Basement Jaxx instead over at the 333 Live for $20-25 big ones.

Basement Jaxx
Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds (even Warpaint) can be a little too slow so pick up the tempo and get your little feet moving to Basement Jaxx. If you don't go to this show...where's your head at?

There's always that wonderful option of opting out of shows and catching a Dodger game. They play the San Diego Padres again at 7:10pm.  There were a lot of disgruntled fans who didn't receive their Hello Kitty Travel Mug giveaway last night. Some received vouchers, others received nothing.  Kershaw ended his scoreless streak of 41 innings last night. The crowd gave him a standing ovation for his amazing performance. Luckily the Dodgers won 2-1 and will get another W tonight.

Cults / James SuperCave / De Lux --FREE shows

One of the best things to look forward to during summer are the free shows.
#Skeezies can catch a good solid show literally everywhere and anywhere--near the beach, DTLA, Hollywood, you name it.
Today is one of those days.
Two great shows for FREE!

Cults

A two piece band from New York know as the Cults, will be taking over the Twilight Concert Series at the Santa Monica Pier. Sounds like the perfect evening if you ask #LAskeez. An evening on Santa Monica Pier with the perfect summer night breeze is already magical as it is but when you add the sounds of the Cults, well take a date to impress.

OH Yeah and James Supercave will be there performing on the Pier as well! What a line-up.

Okay so maybe you're anti the outdoors. It's okay because there happens to be a cool indoor show going on.

De Lux
Over at the Hammer Museum TONIGHT, De Lux will be performing a little something something for FREE
They're two youngish dudes that went to high school together, they're from Glendale and they're good at making music. If you're better at making time, make time for this show tonight by any means necessary.

You can always ditch all the Free shows and go to the Dodger   game to watch them play the San Diego Padres. Kershaw will be pitching and today is the Hello Kitty travel mug giveaway. Perfect to take when you're on the go and need to represent the Dodgers.

Cloud Nothings/ Tijuana Panthers

Now that everyone is recovering from all the glitz and glam from the Cher show last night it's time to move on. Unless that is, you're seeing her again over at the Honda Center in Anaheim.

For the non-Cher fans, there's some good shows tonight.

Cloud Nothings
At Roxy Theatre in Hollywood, Cloud Nothings will be rocking out. They're a 3 piece "indie rock" band (used to be 4, but you know... politics) from Cleveland, Ohio. Wonder if they're rooting for Lebron to make it back home to the Cavaliers. Who knows but anyway for $20 you can catch them and a few opening acts: Metz, The Wytches, EM T, & DJ Steen.

If you #skeezies  are on a budget and looking for a Free solid show, head over to Amoeba in Hollywood to see the Tijuana Panthers.

The lines are always out the door for free shows so be mentally prepared for the madness. #LAskeez translation: get there before the scheduled 6pm time. If you buy their new album they will sign it. Not a bad deal.

$20 show at the Roxy or Free Amoeba show. The choice is in your hands. You can always just stay home and watch the Dodgers play the Detroit Tigers at 4:08pm. Not sure what's up with the "4:08" programmed time but #LAskeez is guessing it has to do with a long commercial(s) or something. Go Dodgers and congrats to the 4 Dodger All-Stars!
