Another week always means more shows. #LAskeez is ready to start the week by pin pointing two good shows tonight.
Spoon. They played at the Moon Block Party festival in Pomona this past Saturday and they played last night at Los Globos in Silverlake. TONIGHT they will be making a stop at the LA Live inside the intimate Grammy Museum! Tickets for this event were only $20 which is a steal for how exclusive it is. If you missed them all weekend, this is their last stop before they head out to Europe. They will be back in the States sometime in December so keep an eye out for them again.
Alt-J. No, #LAskeez isn't trying to tell you to press any buttons on your keyboard. We're trying to tell you the English band Alt-J is going to be playing at the lovely Greek theatre tonight. In case you're wondering if you were to press ALT + J at the same time, it would make a triangle like this... ∆. Technology, crazy ain't it? Oh but back to the show, it will run you anywhere between $35-50, so if you have the $$$ go for it. You won't be disappointed.
It's Thursday #skeezies! The weekend is almost here and #LAskeez can't wait.
There's two shows and Culture Collide that #LAskeez needs to tell you about so let's getting right into it.
Massive Attack. Everyone seems to love this British band from the late 80s and it's probably for a good reason. They're playing at the Greek Theatre tonight, which is absolutely perfect for this Fall like weather. Bundle up and take a little blanket since it gets chilly.
Of Montreal is playing at the Mayan theatre. Idk what's going on but the Mayan and the Belasco Theatre seem to be snatching up a good amount of shows. Anyway you can enjoy Of Montreal for $20. Don't let their name fool you, they're from Georgia. ******************************************************
Okay now that we got the little shows out of the way it's time to introduce the Festival of the week/end. It's the 5th Culture Collide here in LA and it starts today and ends on the 18th.
Bottom line it's supposed to feature international artists/bands from all over the world hence the name Culture Collide. Aside from music there's also going to be a variety of foods and art. Where is this taking place? No other place than Echo Park. For $30 you get snatch up a wristband and partake.
Here's a few music videos from bands that #LAskeez recommends checking out.
Seems like a busy Thursday with a ton of options if #LAskeez has ever heard of one.
Fortunately, Game 4 is today at 2:07pm. Kershaw will be on the mount-- He must show the world why he is the MVP.
Now for the regular programing---
#LAskeez realizes that not everyone appreciates baseball and there are some #skeezies that just want to know about the shows.
Lucky for you there's a few good ones tonight.
Such as:
Twin Shadow. For $20 over at the Soho Restaurant and Music Club you can see Twin Shadow himself being the cool guy on stage performing.
There's too many #skeezies to please here in LA which is why artists/bands need to do back to back shows!
Lorde will be at the Greek Theatre again. The temperatures are dropping tonight so make sure you take a light blanket for this show.
Belle and Sebastian will also be performing again inside the theatre of the Ace Hotel. They put on an amazing show last night so tonights show should be nothing less.
Life just keeps going which is why #skeezies cannot be intimidated by a weekday and keep the party going by going to a show.
Tonight over at the Greek Theatre, Lorde will be taking the stage. She's near the end of her Pure Heroine album tour, so if you haven't seen her yet you should. This young talent needs to come out with some new material already but if you can't make it her show tonight she will be also playing tomorrow evening.
The outdoor venue not your thing tonight?
It's all good, head over to the Theatre at the Ace Hotel where Belle and Sebastian will be performing. Yes, they are a big group but they are not Canadian, they're actually from the UK. They've been around for a while now and they are definitely worth checking out.

Enough about shows. The main highlight for most Angelinos today is the Dodgers game against the St. Louis Cardinals. Game 3 will start at the obscure time of 6:07pm. Is Ryu fully healthy to get the "W" the Dodgers need? Will it be another nail-bitter or will the dodgers easily get their victory. Tune in tonight and we shall all find out together.
#LAskeez including all #skeezies are back at it--yes, it's Monday and that means four more days until another deserving weekend. Last night at the Hollywood Bowl the Pixies and Cat Power put on one heck of a show. Gogo whatever (Gogol Bordello) was also in the line up but to be quite honest is kinda boring and not fitting next to the other two bands. For the fun of it let's watch a quick Pixies music video before we get into today's evening top pick show.

Sam Smith.
#LAskeez was fortunate to see Sam Smith at the Troubadour December of 2013. It was the exact same day he was signed to Capital Records and he was ecstatic to show his talents to the world. His music set was extremely short do to his lack of songs but nothing short of amazing. Definitely the best $15 spent during the holiday season.
Not even a whole year later and Sam Smith is performing two sold out nights at the Greek Theatre. A single ticket is reselling up to $200! If you were one of the lucky #skeezies to score some tickets, you are in for a treat--especially if this is the first time seeing him.
|
#LAskeez was drawn to Sam Smith after the first 2 seconds of hearing this song.
There's some good shows going on like Grouplove & Portugal The Man along with Tokyo Police Club all at the Greek Theatre TONIGHT.
#LAskeez always keeps it real for you #skeezies and this weekend you shouldn't have to spend a single penny to participate and watch some good shows.
Here's why...
Echo Park Rising 2014.
All the bands you see on the line-up, you can see for FREE this weekend in Echo Park. All-Ages and in-outs are OK!
This is the fourth year Echo Park teams up with multiple venues/restaurants/bars--throws a few bands in there through out the night and BAM--Echo Park Rising.
If you're a little confused as to where to go here's a list of the venues and bands for today.
Allah-Las and Cherry Glazerr will be inside #LAskeez's favorite french restaurant Taix.

AND
De Lux will perform inside the Echoplex!
Don't be a sucker and miss on out on all this FREE action! The Dodgers are back in town and will be playing the Milwaukee Brewers all weekend so for those non LA residents coming into Echo Park, be mindful of the traffic.
They will be playing at the Greek Theatre which is another great summer venue. It's not sweater weather but #LAskeez recommends that the #skeezies take a light blanket since it seems to always get a little chilly.
Up next is Wolfmother.
Wolfmother
They're not playing at the Greek or the Bowl but they will be at House of Blues Sunset Strip. Be ready to see these Australians rock out. For 3 guys, they have quite a large sound.
The Dodgers couldn't pull out the win last night and they lost 1-6 to the Pittsburgh Pirates womp womp. They will be in San Francisco tonight (7:15pm) to take on the Giants. The one team that the Dodgers always have to beat are the Giants so let's go Blue!
The Kings need to stop messing around and win the Stanley Cup already! Geeesh the Rangers were lucky to have prevented a sweeeep but tonight at 5:00pm #LAskeez will hopefully be celebrating a championship, as all Angelinos will!
GO KINGS GO!
Tickets to see Sam Smith perform at The Greek Theatre go on sale TODAY!!! This is the second show that was added so make sure not to miss out on this. Come October I'm sure you #skeezies aren't just going to want to read about it, you are going to want to be there.
As for shows going on tonight---turns out the band Electric Six is still around and they will be perfuming at the Roxy Theatre tonight.
Watch the Kings game or go to a show. The choice is yours!
Who is William Onyeabor? Diehard music fans everywhere rejoice on this old school funk/synth/rhythmic gem of a find. William Onyeabor's music was so clearly ahead of its time and noteworthy that the music equivalent of The Avengers team felt compelled to share his music Thursday night at +Greek Theatre. So who exactly was on this musical A-Team? Well-let's drop some names: former Talking Heads member David Byrne, Alexis Taylor from Hot Chip, Kele Okereke from Bloc Party, and Pat Mahoney from LCD Soundsystem. Other artists that partook were: Money Mark, Lijadu Sisters, and opening set by Wooden Wisdom ahem...Elijah Wood?! Yes and partner in crime Zach Cowie. Check out this amazing tune by the man himself William Onyeabor. Although recorded a few decades ago, this is music that could easily hold its own (and then some) next to any contemporary electronic music:
William Onyeabor - Good Name
William Onyeabor in his punk rock gettup. Get with it #skeezies! I might just pick up a white cowboy hat after Thursday's show.
