The Weeknd // Chromeo

Good day #skeezies!
Another day means more shows in and around LA that #LAskeez needs to tell you about.
Today #LAskeez has narrowed it down to two shows and they both involve Canadian artists/bands.

We will start at the bigger venue.

The Weeknd.

The Weeknd

Most #skeezies are familiar with this guy and his distinctive smooth voice and lyrics.

It's not an easy task to be able to sell out the Hollywood Bowl but the Weeknd has done just that. The resale of these tickets are through the roof, so if you have a ticket(s), consider yourself lucky.

Over at the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Center, Chromeo will be out in full force performing for the masses. Chromeo knows how to start a dance party so if you're headed to this event be ready to dance, dance, and dance--100% with your fancy footwork!

Happy Thursday!

Sam Smith @ The Greek

#LAskeez including all #skeezies are back at it--yes, it's Monday and that means four more days until another deserving weekend. Last night at the Hollywood Bowl the Pixies and Cat Power put on one heck of a show. Gogo whatever (Gogol Bordello) was also in the line up but to be quite honest is kinda boring and not fitting next to the other two bands.  For the fun of it let's watch a quick Pixies music video before we get into today's evening top pick show.

                                             Sam Smith.

#LAskeez was fortunate to see Sam Smith at the Troubadour December of 2013. It was the exact same day he was signed to Capital Records and he was ecstatic to show his talents to the world. His music set was extremely short do to his lack of songs but nothing short of amazing. Definitely the best $15 spent during the holiday season.
Not even a whole year later and Sam Smith is performing two sold out nights at the Greek Theatre. A single ticket is reselling up to $200! If you were one of the lucky #skeezies to score some tickets, you are in for a treat--especially if this is the first time seeing him.

#LAskeez was drawn to Sam Smith after the first 2 seconds of hearing this song.

OH and the Dodgers beat the +Colorado Rockies 5-10 yesterday.
The Boys in Blue were having fun as Juan Uribe switched his jersey to Don Mattingly's #8 and then into a Tommy Lasorda #2.
When you're winning it sure is easy to have fun.
First game of the playoffs is this Friday against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Simpsons Take The Bowl

In case you #skeezies didn't know...it's FRIDAY!
Yup and after binge watching the Simpsons 12 day every single episode marathon, it only seems appropriate to head over to the Hollywood Bowl for the 3 day Simpson take over!

Each night ends with a firework finale!
The creator Matt Groening will be there along with Conan O'Brien.
Make it a point as #LAskeez will, to head over sometime during the weekend to witness the Simpson take over. It's about time Lisa get's to play her sax in the famous Bowl venue!

James Brown // ReignWolf

Two shows are sticking out to #LAskeez tonight.
Let's start with the bigger venue first.
At the Hollywood Bowl the James Brown "Get On Up" celebration is taking place. Special guests from D'Angelo to Aloe Blacc will be giving tribute to James Brown. The show starts at 8pm and tonight will be a perfect evening for a picnic basket, a light blanket, and the willingness to taking in the Bowl scenery while listening to a little James Brown. Get on up and go!

James Brown

For $15 over at the Troubadour, ReignWolf will take the stage to rock out. This guy is from Canada, moved to Seattle and is now in West Hollywood at one of the most intimate venues to date.
Listen to this.

The Dodgers beat the Atlanta Braves again 4-2.
If they continue to play as they have the last two games against the Braves, they should have no problem sweeping the series against them tonight at 4:10pm.

Lady Gaga --Alice Cooper & Motley Crue

So Lady Gaga will be at the Staples Center tonight but who cares?

No really who cares?
Apparently there's still "Little Monsters" around supporting her fizzling career. She does put on an amazing visually stimulating show, so if she sticks to the classics it may something worth watching. Ticket sales didn't do too well so #skeezies can go on Stubhub to snag a ticket for $42 or maybe less as the concert approaches.

Alice Cooper & Motley Crue will be performing at the Hollywood Bowl which should be lovely. The weather here in LA has been close to perfect so why wouldn't anyone not want to jam out on a nice summer evening?!

Rock out!

Don't forget the Dodgers will be playing the Pittsburgh Pirates tonight at 4:05pm.

An Evening at Hollywood Bowl or Reggae Night at the Echo

Pleasant days turn into pleasant evenings.
Today is is no exception of this.
#LAskeez would most certainly have to recommend heading over to the Hollywood Bowl to see Boz Scaggs play the guitar tonight.

Typical evening at the Bowl

If you just want to dance to some reggae then head over to the Echoplex. Every Wednesday is the Dub Club with DJ Tom Chasteen.

Life is feeling a little empty without some Dodger Baseball but don't worry #skeezies the withdraws will stop when baseball resumes back on Friday. The Dodgers performed very well yesterday during the All-Star game. Kershaw and Greinke both pitched awesome innings. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough for the National League to win. Had one of our boys in blue pitched more than one inning, the outcome would of definitely been different. Oh well there's always next year.

Fourth of July/ Young & Sick Recap

What a weekend! #LAskeez hopes all #skeezies had a wonderful Fourth of July Weekend! There were a ton of great firework shows. From the Hollywood Bowl, Dodger Stadium, Grand Park in Downtown Los Angeles, to people that got a hold of some illegal fireworks, everyone was celebrating and being very patriotic. #LAskeez had the opportunity to have a great view of the entire city and it really was quite a sight to see.

American Flag Sugar Cookies

Better late than never but it's time to give #LAskeez's review on the Young & Sick show which was last Wednesday night. Nick might be considered an attractive frontman by most, however his "sexiness" seemed to be a little too forced or maybe too 1990's cliche "hunk." Although "hunk" is not a word #LAskeez would typically use, it does seem fitting to describe this frontman. His tortured artist attitude and perfectly tousled hair left me scratching my head a little. I wasn't sure whether to swoon or to laugh a little.

Robyn + Royksopp "Do it Again" / Fink

#LAskeez went on a brief hiatus over the weekend to Palm Springs but did make it back on time over to the Hollywood Bowl to see Robyn & Röyksopp! The picnic baskets were out in full swing before the show took place. The second the show began the glow sticks and neon lights were raised in the air and if you were sitting down you weren't participating in the dance partaaaay. If you didn't want to dance, why bother showing up? This was the second time Robyn + Royksopp perform at the Bowl together and each time they get better and better. Don't be surprised if they're on the bill again next summer and "do it again".

Tonight over at the Bardot Hollywood, Fink will be performing a FREE show.
It may not be as fun (lacking glow sticks) as the Robyn bowl show last night but hey it's FREE and in LA you have to the opportunity to catch great acts for next to nothing, if you're on top of it that is. As long as the #skeezies keep reading, you all will definitely be in the know.

How about them Los Angeles Dodgers? They play tonight against the Cleveland Indians at 7:10pm and if the calculations are correct, a win tonight will move them up to the number one spot in their division! GO BLUE!
