Tokimonsta // Sam Smith // Jingle Ball

Alright #skeezies this may be a later posting but there's still time to potentially go catch a show.
#LAskeez has two events to tell you all about:

First up Tokimonsta. We've mentioned her before, she's the Korean American woman who graduated from UC Irvine and tonight she's going to perform at the Observatory in Santa Ana. Luckily for the #skeezies, there's still last minute tickets available on ticketweb.com  for $25.  This is a later show because hey it's Friday and well, why not? It's Friday night! Get out there and have some fun. Doors are at 10:30pm and there's two opening acts so make sure you get your caffeine fix before you head over.

The Lakers are away tonight playing in Boston, which means that the Staples Center is available for something different---Tonight KISS FM is taking over the Staples Center with their annual Jingle Ball event. Which includes an #LAskeez favorite---Sam Smith. Yes, Sam Smith will be at Jingle Ball for a 30 min set. It has been quite a treat to see this young man's career take off in the past year. Attendees will surely be serenaded with smooth vocals. Tickets range from $40-500! The show starts at 8pm so don't be late if you plan to also watch Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, and all of the other ultra popular acts.

Young Jeezy // Chris Isaak

One of the biggest storms LA has seen in a while is going on right this moment. The whole state of California is engulfed by this cloud of rain and we need it more than ever. Here in LA, everyone is excited to finally dust off and put on their fashionable (because everyone in LA thinks they're fashionable) rain coats, boots, and umbrellas. The rainfall may keep people away from going out and about but not #LAskeez so let us tell you about the shows you #skeezies can check out tonight.

All the way from the South, Young Jeezy himself will be stopping by Santa Ana to perform over at the Observatory. He's been grammy nominated not once not twice but FOUR times and he's a former member of Boyz n Da Hood. If those aren't reasons to go see this guy then idk what is. That's not to mention his hit songs. Doors are at 8pm, and tickets are still available via stubhub for $33+.

What we're about to tell you about next is completely different from Young Jeezy and an act your older sister or mom can tell you about. That's Chris Isaak. He may have not aged gracefully but that's probably due to all those 'wicked games' he would sing about.  He's going to be over in San Juan Capistrano at The Coach House. This show is a little pricy  $125+ so we're assuming that he's probably going to personally look into your eyes and sing directly at you. Show is at 8pm.

Tegan & Sara // Ms. Lauryn Hill // Culture Club

Happy Hump Day #skeezies
#LAskeez has today's top three concert recommendations for you all. The fan favorites are always the FREE shows so we will start with that.

Tegan and Sara. These identical twin sisters have some of the most loyal fans around. Today they will be performing at the OC Fair and Event Center in Costa Mesa for FREE. Doors open at 7pm. The first 100 fans will be treated to complimentary valet and if you drive a Lexus, you get some sort of upgrade hook up. This is a 21+ only event and RSVPing is required. If you felt bad about missing their show yesterday at the Hollywood Palladium, today will more than make up for that.

Another OC event going on is Lauryn Hill at the Observatory.  Forget about her past antics of showing up late to her own shows, she should be on time tonight. For about $60+ a ticket she better. Lauryn Hill tonight almost sounds too good to be true.

Bringing it back to LA! The Culture Club should of been performing tonight at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Center. Unfortunately, the reunion was cancelled two days ago due to Boy George's medical condition. Hopefully he recovers soon! And hopefully you #skeezies got your money back!

Judas Priest // First Aid Kit // A Night at Sonos Studio

Monday is back but never fear #skeezies there's still plenty of shows for #LAskeez to talk about.

If you're still on a high from yesterday's Bad Religion's show---The Judas Priest and Steel Panther show over at the Nokia Theatre, might be right up your alley. Unfortunately, this isn't a Redbull Sound Select show which means the tickets to see Judas Priests are hailing normal ticket prices like in the $40-100 range.

Jumping over to the Santa Ana Observatory, the Swedish girls known as First Aid Kit are back in town. Tickets are $25. If you can wait until Wednesday you don't have to make the drive down to the OC and can catch them at the Wiltern for the same $25 price.

Tonight marks the 10th night of the Red Bull Sound Select. What's going on? #LAskeez isn't too sure, but the event is called "A night at Sonos Studio". Any event held at Sonos Studio is memorable and magical and it's a little bigger than your living room so it's really intimate. For $0, yeah which also translates to FREE why wouldn't you want to check this event out.

Mariachi El Bronx // Julian Casablancas & the Voidz // Mayer Hawthorne

Happy Hump Day to all the #skeezies
To celebrate getting through half of the work week #LAskeez has some shows to tell you about.

Alright tonight at the El Rey, Mariachi El Bronx will be performing for $27 a ticket. If you've never heard of them don't let the name fool you. They're not Mexican nor are they from The Bronx. Just five guys from LA with names like Brad and Ken that play some music that sounds like a cross between ska/punk/rock/mariachi fused together which ends up meshing well. Which is why you need to check them out today. As a bonus, The Tijuana Panthers will be opening up!

Julian Casablancas & the Voidz will be performing what always seems to sound like an experimental set tonight at the Observatory. The admission for this garage band practice sound? $35 big ones. If you're lucky maybe he'll decide to sing one or two songs from The Strokes.

If you haven't heard already. RedBull Sound Select is hosting 30 shows in 30 days all throughout the city. Tonight's show will include Mayer Hawthorne over at the Madame Tussauds in Hollywood. The guy can do it all---sing, rap, produce, play instruments, etc. That's probably why he was nominated for a grammy but now a days who isn't. He's djing tonight and the RSVP list is still open which means it's a FREE  event. Wax on Wax will perform as well. So if you're on a budget and still want to go out, this is your show.

Marilyn Manson // Delta Spirit // Nick Jonas

Hello #skeezies! There were slim pickings yesterday but tonight #LAskeez has a little something for everyone's musical pallet.

Just in time for Halloween. Marilyn Manson himself will be performing tonight at the Observatory in Santa Ana for $55 a ticket. Ticket prices are a little steep but it's Marilyn Mason, so he can demand those type of ticket prices. For all you beautiful industrial heavy metal people out there this is where you want to be.

If you're not hardcore enough to attend a Marilyn Manson show, then maybe you should head over to the Troubadour to see the indie band Delta Spirit for $20. The show is mostly likely sold out since they seem to be a favorite around here which is probably due to them being semi-locals (SD, OC, LB).  The Troubadour is an awesome venue so anything going on in there is a treat.

From Marilyn Manson, Delta Spirit to now Nick Jonas. Those are probably names you typically wouldn't see in the same sentence but #LAskeez is just testing the limits here. Big pop stars/ teenage heartthrobs are always fun to see at small intimate venues. With todays case, Nick Jonas will be at the Satellite over here in Silverlake. The price of admission is $29.50 and why not head down if you're into that type of stuff.

Little Dragon // Tycho // Crystal Skulls

Good day, #LAskeez here ready to give you our top recommendations for the week but for starters let's start with what's going on today. LA always has something going on and #LAskeez is always willing to point you #skeezies in the right direction. Everyone wants a piece of the pie which is why when bands come into town for shows in LA they make a few pitstops on the outskirts. Today two of the three shows going on tonight are on the outskirts but you can decide if it's worth the drive.

First up and an #LAskeez favorite, Little Dragon. They will be performing tonight at the Observatory in Santa Ana. #skeezies, this show should run you $35 a ticket. Little Dragon always puts on an amazing show so don't let the drive or price tag deter you. Besides they're coming all the way from Sweden to put on this show!

Next up: Tycho. If you haven't seen him, you should. This native Californian, can relax you at his shows with his music and simple visuals. This show is happening over in Pomona at the Glass House. The venue is an intimate one for sure, so anywhere you stand you will be alright. For those old school Glass House attendees that haven't been in a while, they've been selling alcohol now, so booze up. $25 is the admission for this show.

Okay now back to the actual LA shows. Why drive anywhere and pay when you can just stay local, head over to the Echo and watch the Crystal Skulls for FREE?! Yeah, that option always seems like the best in #LAskeez's opinion. All these other acts are likely to come into town town eventually.

The choice is yours and that's the #skeez.

Jessie J // The Horros // The Drums

Hey there #skeezies!!
#LAskeez always seems to go on a brief hiatus during 3 day weekends.
We're back so let's get back to the music shows going on tonight.
FREE shows are always a fan favorite so let's tackle that first.

The Drums will be playing a FREE show at Amoeba Records in Hollywood.
You know the drill. Get there early. People come out in numbers for free shows so #LAskeez would advise getting there around 2pm-ish. Make sure you download some new apps to keep you busy since they won't perform until 6pm.

******************************************************

For $22.50 over at the Observatory in Santa Ana--The Horrors will be taking over. Yep, it's a British invasion in this venue tonight. "So now you know". If you can't catch them tonight, they will be playing here in LA tomorrow at the Mayan Theatre. Oh and that show is going to cost you an extra $7.

*********************************************************************************

Another British act will be performing tonight and she goes by the name of Jessie J. Some may even consider her the UKs version of Katy Perry but the point is...for $30 (which is a little too pricy for the El Rey standards) you can see her sing all her hit songs in a very small venue, which in that case may be worth the $30. Happy Tuesday and keep it #skeezy.

Way Over Yonder

Dust off those Daisy Dukes #skeezies, it's FRIDAY!
The Way Over Yonder two-day festival starts today over at the Santa Monica Pier.

It's the last "summer" festival of the season, so head out with the whole family to enjoy some good music and beautiful sunsets.

Jackson Browne willing be performing his classics.

One of #LAskeez's favorites known as the Local Natives will be sending warning signs of good music.

If you're not into festivals you can always catch Die Antwoord for their second show at the Observatory.

The Dodgers play their first post season game tonight at 7:10pm against the Colorado Rockies. All the Dodgers need to do is continue playing well like they have been and they should easily put this game away with a "W".

Simian Mobile Disco // The Kooks // Die Antwoord

Calling all #skeezies! Are you still with #LAskeez!? We've been slacking over here but we're back at it in full force. There's still time to make plans and watch a show.
Simian Mobile Disco is going to be bringing the dancing to the El Rey tonight. For $22 bucks you can dance your little hearts out.

Okay everyone loves options so here's another one for y'all
Over at the Wiltern those British boy's known as the Kooks will be rocking out.

Not feeling either shows I just mentioned? Well I have one more for you and this one will require a little drive over to the Santa Ana Observatory. All the way from South Africa, Die Antwoord will be getting weird and entertaining the crowd.

Don't say #LAskeez never helped you out on a Thursday.
We can not end this blog without mentioning the 2014 National League West Champions aka the Dodgers!
If you doubted Kershaw for a second, he sure made it crystal clear to everyone that he is indeed the MVP. Not only was his pitching on point, but his first career triple was kinda amazing.
Congrats to the 2014 National League Champions!
This is one of three celebrations that are to soon to come.

Atmosphere @ The Observatory

Good Morning #skeezies!
This California drought has everyone forgetting what rain looks like. Fortunately, we had a little preview of rain earlier this morning. After yesterday's extremely warm weather, this overcast is very nice.
*
*
As for as concerts go today, it's like our water supply...dry.
Not much going on today.
Which would make it a bad case of the Mondays.
Atmosphere is playing at the Observatory in Santa Ana but that's about it.

How about them Dodgers !?
#LAskeez watched the Dodgers, destroyed the Arizona Diamondbacks 2-7!
Gonzalez and Kemp both had tremendous games.
Let's hope they do the same to the San Diego Padres tonight at 7:10pm.

RIP Robin Williams // Justin Timberlake // Lykke Li

#Skeezies around the world yesterday found out the unfortunate news of Robin Williams passing. #LAskeez grew up watching many Robin Williams films like Hook, Aladdin, Mrs. Doubtfire, Jumanji, Dead Poets Society, and What Dreams May Come, to name a few. Known for being the "funny man" he battled depression behind closed doors. He left four completed films which will be released later this year. His memory will live on for generations to come. Thank you Robin Williams for all the laughter you created.

To lighten things up a little, let's talk about tonight's upcoming shows. Over at the Staples Center, Justin Timberlake will be performing with his suit and tie.

Lykke Li will be making a pit stop at the Observatory in Santa Ana before heading into LA tomorrow. #LAskeez prefers her at smaller venues so this is a show you may not want to miss. It's always fun to watch her dance, dance, dance.

Comic Con / Echo and the Bunnymen

#LAskeez had the opportunity to take the Amtrak surf liner train up to Comic Con, this past weekend. Yes, the Comic Con in San Diego. The train ride is always a beautiful coast line ride up that it's hard not wanting to ride it. Even though a one-way ticket costs about the same as a full tank of gas and it takes just about the same amount of time if not longer to get up there in a car, its fun! Hmmm...wait a minute, what's up with that?
Just a reminder that the US is nowhere near the train systems as Europe or Japan.

Adventure time making it's way into the Comic Con

There were a ton of surprises over the weekend. The Batman versus Superman sneak trailer was revealed not once but TWICE!
The cast of Game of Thrones enjoyed their last panel together and the American Horror Story cast answered a few questions.
Tons of cosplays to look at and of course collectible items that comic con #skeezies were lining up for. Showing up 2 hrs ahead of anything you wanted to see was considered late in comparison to the over night campers. Nevertheless an amazing experience.

Another weekend came and went now you need something to do today.

Echo and the Bunnymen are slowly making their way over to LA and tonight they will playing a few miles away over at the Observatory. The word is out that there's going to be a killing moon tonight so head over to enjoy some classics.

Let's take a brief moment to take in how Dodgers swept the +San Francisco Giants

It was absolutely spectacular.

NYC mayor sings "I love LA"/ Sage Francis / Uh Huh Her

If you haven't heard already, the New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, went on Jimmy Kimmel and sang the unofficial Los Angeles City anthem---"I love LA".  LA Mayor Eric Garcetti really knows how to place bets and celebrate as he dropped an F--bomb as he was holding a beer during the +Los Angeles Kings celebration ceremony. Where can we party with this guy? Hopefully there's more sports celebrations to come ::cough:: Dodgers?! #LAskeez can only be oh so hopeful.

Let's talk local shows. Tonight, over at the Troubadour +Sage Francis will be taking the stage in an intimate venue.

and just a quick drive up the 5 fwy over to Santa Ana Uh Huh Her will be performing at The Observatory for $15. Who doesn't want to see Alice from the L-Word jam out live?

"We love LA!"
