BANKS // Metronomy // Wildcat Wildcat

#LAskeez here ready to give you #skeezies today's top show recommendations.

We will start with #LAskeez's artist favorites which is Banks.

Banks is an Orange County girl who has caught the attention of many.

She is playing two shows at the Wiltern, the first show starting tonight! The Australian band Movement will be opening up for them both nights so for $27 this show is definitely a treat! If you can't make the show tonight definitely make it a point to make it out tomorrow!

The English band Metronomy, is also playing tonight at the Belasco Theatre. #LAskeez  was curious as to how the Belasco and the Mayan have been coming up on all these shows and it finally made sense. The newly renovated Regency Theatre isn't fully ready to host shows just yet which is why all these shows have been funneling over to the Belasco/Mayan Theatre (same owner, same bad venue). Nevertheless Metronomy is a good enough band that the #skeezies need to check out. What will this show cost you? $23 big ones.

WILDCAT WILDCAT! yeah these local boys are playing at the El Rey Theatre tonight for $20 a pop. Happy Tuesday! You have always have options.

SBTRKT // The New Pornographers // The Horrors

Another day means more shows that #LAskeez needs to tell the #skeezies about!

Ever heard of SBTRKT? Well if you're a little curious as to how to you would even go about saying that, just say "sub-tract" and there you have it--you now know how to pronounce SBTRKT. Anyway this SBTRKT fellow's real name is Aaron Jerome and he's kinda awesome. He's from the UK and has remixed songs of Radiohead...need #LAskeez say anymore? Tonight at the Belasco Theatre in Downtown LA you can catch him there for $37.

************

Literally right next door to the Belasco Theatre the Horrors who #LAskeez mentioned yesterday will be making their official LA performance at the Mayan Theatre.

Up for a drive? Like to the desert?

You're in luck because the New Pornographers are going to be playing at Pappy & Harriet's which is in Pioneer Town tonight for $30. In case you're wondering where Pioneer Town is, it's past the Morongo Casino and right near Joshua Tree. This would be the perfect impromptu adventure. If you're not up for the drive, it's okay, they will be in LA on Friday at the Wiltern.

Boy George Review/ Mean Girls : "Wednesdays We Wear Pink"

I always considered Boy George to be an edgy trendsetter. Someone who lives on the edge. But time and finding Jesus can definitely make a person change and that is exactly what happened last night.

After hearing 45 minutes worth of songs about God, Jesus, and "My God is bigger than your God"-- #LAskeez was almost ready to make a u-turn out of the venue when he finally played "Do you really want to hurt me?",  along with some other classics.  For all you Culture Club fans out there #LAskeez has some #skeez for you #skeezies ----The Culture Club is set to start recording a new album this year! Typically after a band records an album they go on tour so expect some good things later this year. You heard it first from #LAskeez.

As far as the Belasco Theater is concerned, it is in some desperate need of ventilation! People where sweating buckets inside the venue and that is just not acceptable. This wasn't an underground warehouse show so there should of been a few pocket holes of air circulating the joint.

The +Belasco Theater doesn't have a marquee so they used the Mayan's.

Mean Girls

"On Wednesdays we wear pink"

My oh my how time flies.

Today is the 10 year anniversary of Mean Girls!
Mean Girls was an automatic pop culture phenomena much in the same way as the movie Clueless.

Gays, teens, and everyone else will find the antics in the movies relatable and hilarious for years to come. Undoubtedly a timeless classic.

Although the movie is funny from beginning to end; #LAskeez's narrowed it down to 5 of our favorite scenes.

1. "Wednesdays We Wear Pink"

2. "Evil took a human form in Regina George"

3. "If you're going to drink, I'd rather you do it in the house"

4. "She doesn't even go here"

5. "I can't go to Taco Bell, I'm on an ALL CARB DIET"

Re-watch Mean Girls today in honor of the 10 year anniversary! Its just as funny as if you watched it for the first time 10 years ago today.

Boy George

Boy George.

Known as apart of the Culture Club in the early 80's and then became his own house hold name.

It's been YEARS since he last went on tour.

BUT tonight he will be performing at the Belasco Theater in Downtown Los Angeles.

#LAskeez is excited to check out the venue and Boy George for the first time. So excited that #LAskeez may show up with random braids and colored ribbons in our hair.

From what #LAskeez knows about the Belasco Theater is that it was constructed in the mid 1920s,

since then it's been through many owners and changes; but was recently restored back to it's original state in 2011.

Be ready #skeezies for tomorrow's full report on the show.

Here are #LAskeez's top 5 Culture Club songs:

1. Culture Club--Time

2. Culture Club--Do You Really Want To Hurt Me

3. Culture Club--Karma Chameleon

4. Culture Club--I'll Tumble 4 Ya

5. Culture Club--Miss Me Blind

Boy George followed up by sports are typically not in the same sentence but that's #LAskeez for you and that's why the #skeezies keep reading.
