The Barr Brothers // Rx Bandits // Jhene Aiko

#LAskeez was awoken this early morning from a deep slumber by a rude iPhone flash flood alert. In other words it meant to take a kayak or boat to work because the freeways were little river streams. Now that LA is drying up it's time to inform the #skeezies where to go tonight. It's Friday and we're almost certain that the predicted evening showers will not keep you home.

The Barr Brothers consist of 4 folks that play good ole folk music. These guys and gal found each other in Canada Aye, specifically in Quebec "oui, oui". Tonight they will be in LA playing over here in Silverlake at the Satellite.  The price of admission is $14. The show begins at 9:00 and the entire event ends at 2am.  Perfect timing to allow the rain to pass. Opening up for these guys are Leif Vollebekk. Should be a good show, don't miss out!

The boys from the OC known as the Rx Bandits are still alive and well. Tonight they will be playing at the Glass House for $22 a ticket. Since you probably don't have work tomorrow taking the drive out to Pomona shouldn't be too bad. Doors are at 7pm. Just be ready to hear their sixth album along with a few classics. With experience comes better albums and this new album is good stuff.

Yesterday we mentioned that Jhene Aiko was going to be playing tonight at Club Nokia. Since we featured a music video of hers already let's focus on one of the opening acts for tonight which is the Internet. They're local LA folks that need to blow up already!

Digitalism // Odd Future Carnival 2014 // The Downtown Festival

What a night. #LAskeez didn't make it to the fools gold show but we did make it out to see Rhye and Yacht. The new Regent Theatre is awesome and that's all due to the efforts and money that the folks over from the Echo invested into the venue. Tonight's another busy night so get ready for this #skeezies

Starting with the non festival show---Digitalism. The German duo will be at the El Rey tonight. For $22 you can dance the night away. Doors open at 8pm but #LAskeez would venue to say that they won't probably go on until 10pm.

The 3rd Annual Odd Future Carnival Festival is today at the LA Coliseum. The Line is vey solid. From Pharrell, OFWGKTA, Murs, to Rick Ross to name a few. Tickets for this event are ranging anywhere between $85-225. Bottom line you better have some deep pockets if you're planning on attending or have a good hookup

Day 2 of the Downtown Festival which happens to be the last day as well is going on tonight. There's nothing like a new venue that you get to break in with equally excited concert goers that realize that this new venue is a game changer in the LA music scene.

The line-up with set times looks like this:
7:30-8:45 Dj Travis Holcombe
8:30-9:10 Corners
9:30-10:10 Lydia Ainsworht
10:30-11:10 Mr Elevator and the Brain Hotel
                                       11:30 Connan Mockasin

Kings Win Stanley Cup/ Neon Trees/ The Internet / Summer Nights

#LAskeez can officially say the Los Angeles Kings brought the Stanley Cup back to LA!
It was an intense game 5 against the New York Rangers that went into double OT but Alec Martinez shot the winning goal!
The parade will take place Monday June 16th. It will start from 5th street over to Chick Hearn.
After the parade there will be a rally inside the Staples Center at 1:00pm. If you have tickets to the rally, the option to see the parade from inside the Staples Center is up to you.

If you're looking for something free to do tonight head over to Chinatown Central Plaza for Kcrw's summer nights!
It's from 5pm-12am. Enjoy live Dj sets, live bands, food trucks, and good vibes.

Record Store Day/ Farmers Market/ Coachella Weekend 2 Day 2

It's Record Store Day! Go to your nearest Record Store and appreciate it. Buy a record. Vinyl is awesome and some stores are even offering a free record (used) and giving away donuts.

Let's talk about yesterday. For any #skeezies that have not been to The Grove, it's in the heart of LA. You can shop, eat, or watch a movie there. The Farmers Market which has been around since the early 1930s (way before the developer of The Grove was even born) is a staple of LA and is a brisk walk away. You can find just about anything you crave inside the Farmers Market. It's been awhile since #LAskeez has been to New Orleans but you can't always explain a craving. Luckily the Farmers Market has Cajun food!
Gumbo, alligator strips, hush puppies--they have it. #LAskeez stuck to a classic and went with a shrimp po boy. It wasn't the best. But it did satisfy the craving and is considerably cheaper than a trip out to New Orleans.

Coachella Weekend 1 Day 2

Day 1 of the Coachella festival was successfully completed.

Come here for the music. Stay here for that amazing desert sunset @ Coachella Day 1

A little of Los Angeles was taken to the desert and local restaurants such as Beer Belly and Mohawk Bend made it out to the desert! Such a delightful surprise.

#LAskeez had recommended The Knife last night and was quite surprised that they didn't play any of their hit songs and turned the set into a 1997 art class dance party. You win some you lose some.
Skrillex was spotted by #LAskeez watching an amazing Bonobo performance.

By the way never stay at the Caliente Tropics Resort in Palm Springs. They have bed bugs and that's the last thing anyone wants to deal with after a long day at Coachella or ever for that matter. Anyway here's today's recommendations.

Top Ten Saturday Must See Bands (you will be spending a lot of time in the Gobi Tent):

1. Young & Sick 12-12:30 (Mojave)

2. The Internet 1:30-2:10 (Gobi)

3. Banks 3:45-4:20 (Gobi)

4. Holy Ghost 4:45-5:30 (Gobi)

5. Washed Out 5:50-6:40 (Gobi)

6. Lorde 7:55-8:45

7. Solange 8:25-9:10 (Gobi)

8. Empire of the Sun 9:50-10:50 (Mojave)

9. Muse 11:30 (Coachella)

10. Pet Shop Boys 11:35 (Mojave)

Enjoy the festivities!
